Pirate Queen’s Log – Clémentine Delauney Unveils the Treasures of Pirates II – Armada

In 2022, symphonic metal trailblazers Visions of Atlantis unleashed the first chapter of their swashbuckling “Pirate Saga,” aptly titled Pirates. It wasn’t just an album; it was a treasure trove of symphonic metal brilliance that sent shivers down the spines of even the most seasoned seafarers. Fans hoisted the Jolly Roger in revelry, critics penned glowing reviews, and the album charted in a number of countries. And you might remember, we even crowned it ‘Best Symphonic Metal Album’ for 2022.

The band then embarked on a whirlwind tour, including a legendary show in Philly in 2023 that we were fortunate enough to witness firsthand. The energy that night was electric, the crowd a sea of swaying bodies and enthusiastic voices joining the band’s powerful choruses.

There was an undeniable magic woven into the fabric of Pirates; each track was a jewel in its own right, shimmering with symphonic splendor, an album with no filler. Now this was a record that not only met but exceeded the lofty expectations set by the band’s devoted fanbase.

And now,the high seas beckon once more as Visions of Atlantis prepare to set sail with their latest opus, ‘Pirates II – Armada’, dropping anchor on July 5th via Napalm Records. While both albums stand as proud monuments to the band’s artistic vision, it’s clear that the pirate spirit continues to flow through their veins. Pirates II – Armada promises to go even deeper into the nautical narrative established by its predecessor, amplifying the intensity and steering the ship into heavier waters.

We recently had the privilege of a chat with the Pirate Queen herself, Clèmentine Delauney, to go a bit more into the depths of Visions of Atlantis’ forthcoming release. Our conversation navigated the diverse currents of influence that shaped the album’s sound, the intricate process of coming up with those atmospheric effects to enhance the minds eye storytelling, and the craftsmanship that goes into creating their music videos and live performances.

Delauney, with her infectious passion and insights, gave us a little look of the band’s creative journey, offering a glimpse into the detail and unwavering dedication that have become synonymous with Visions of Atlantis. It’s clear that they’ve not only embraced their pirate persona but have also harnessed it to forge a unique identity within the genre.

The band’s relentless touring schedule shows no signs of slowing down. With a major European headlining tour this year, Visions of Atlantis is set to dominate stages across the continent in 2024. And for those of us stateside, the rumor mill is churning with whispers of a potential U.S. tour in 2025, a prospect that has fans on both sides of the Atlantic eagerly awaiting further announcements. In the meantime, the band continues to make waves on the festival circuit.
